The 30th of April 2014 the Congress passed the new General Telecommunications Act, which seeks to create an investment encouragement framework and improve consumer protection by incorporating into Spanish regulations the European Directives integrated in the Telecom Package passed in November 2009.
The Draft Bill modifies rollout of new generation network’s regulations and wants to induce a more efficient usage of the radio spectrum applying tech and service neutrality principles, promoting the secondary marketplace.
Among the modifications introduced there is the one working day deadline to carry on number portability, consumer’s information right amendments along with their personal data protection and changes to regulatory bodies powers and operations.
